The Infinity twisted loop cotton dust mop has post-industrial 4-ply cotton yarn that can be laundered for repeated use, and is made with twisted loops that resist snagging and provide better dust retention and coverage than regular looped-end or cut-end dust mops. It has a polyester backing sleeve that fits a standard or breakdown-style dust mop frame (sold separately). This mop head is pre-laundered to reduce shrinkage, and is suitable for commercial and industrial applications.
Dust mops (also called dry mops) consist of a mop head, a mop frame, and a handle. A mop head is sometimes tied on to a mop frame with connected strings, or it has a sleeve that the frame fits into. The frame provides support for the shape of the mop head, which consists of dust-collecting yarns and a flexible backing to hold the yarns together and connect to the frame. Dust mop heads have traditionally been made of cotton, and used with an oil- or water-based chemical treatment to improve dust retention. Synthetic fibers build a positive electrostatic charge from friction that attracts and retains dust so that no treatment is needed. Also, synthetic fibers withstand laundering better and dry faster, which leads to a longer product lifespan when synthetics are blended with cotton because harmful bacteria grow in a damp mop. The handle is a separate item that connects to the frame. Often either the frame or the handle also includes a swivel joint for flexible maneuverability.
